- We use your data to teach you and to run Skilli. We don't sell it and we don't show ads.
- Your lessons, answers and chats with your teacher are private. Friends see only what your privacy settings allow.
- Photos you send during a lesson are checked by the AI and not stored. Homework and course pages you upload are kept, so your teacher can help you through them.
- You can delete your account and data at any time, in the app (Me → Delete account) — see how to delete your account.
Who we are
Skilli (“Skilli”, “we”, “us”) runs the Skilli apps for iOS and Android, the web app at app.skilli.app and the website at skilli.app. For anything about your data, write to support@skilli.app.
What we collect
Your account
- From Google sign-in (or Apple, where offered): your email address, name and account ID. We never see your password. With Apple you can hide your real email; we then get a private relay address.
- What you add to your profile: display name, age, what you do, country, a short bio, a profile photo or a generated cartoon avatar (one of the two is needed so friends can recognise you), your app language and how you'd like to be addressed.
- Settings: time zone, reminder times and quiet hours, notification choices, privacy settings (including who can find you by name and who can send you friend requests).
Your learning
- The skills you start, your goals and level, and the conversation that set each skill up.
- Lessons your teacher wrote for you, your answers, practice results, ratings, and what you've covered, so each lesson builds on the last.
- Streaks, XP, levels and league positions.
- Homework, course and exam material: pages you photograph or upload (photos or a PDF) are stored with that skill, together with what the AI read from them — the exercises, topics and an answer key. The answer key is never shown to the learner; a parent in your family can see it. Your work on each exercise (answers, hints, photos of your work sent for a check) is kept with it. Practice-test results and your exam date are kept too.
- Lesson photos: when a step asks for a photo of your attempt, the photo is sent to our AI provider to give you feedback and is then discarded — we don't store it. Only the result (for example “step passed”) is saved.
Social features
- Friends, friend requests, family links, study groups, group chat messages, posts, reactions and cheers.
- Discover searches: what you type is used to find results (and a skill name in it may be sent to our AI provider to match Hebrew and English names). We don't keep it with your account; your recent searches stay on your own device.
- Reports and blocks you make, and invite links you share (including who joined through them, for referral rewards).
When and how you use Skilli
- When you open lessons and how you respond to reminders. Skilli uses this to learn when you're usually free, so it can remind you at a good time.
- Device notification tokens, so we can send reminders to your phone or browser.
- Which app you use (iPhone, Android or web) and when you last used each, so we can support each one. On your first visit we look up your country from your IP address to choose Hebrew or English; we don't store it.
- Basic technical logs (such as errors and request times) to keep the service running and secure.
Purchases
Subscriptions and credit packs are bought through the App Store or Google Play. We receive a record of what you bought and whether it's active — never your card details.
How we use it
- To create your personal teacher, plan your path, write lessons and give feedback — this is the core of Skilli.
- To send the reminders, notifications and emails you asked for.
- To run social features within your privacy settings.
- To keep Skilli safe: posts, bios and uploaded profile photos are checked by an AI moderator, and reports are reviewed by our team.
- To manage your plan, credits and purchases.
- To fix problems and improve lessons, for example by reviewing lesson ratings and AI costs.
We don't sell your personal data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't use it to show you ads.
Who helps us run Skilli
These providers process data on our behalf, only to provide their part of the service:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Anthropic | The AI behind your teacher. Receives what's needed to write and check a lesson or help with homework (your skill, level, recent progress, answers, lesson photos and the material you upload). Anthropic doesn't use this data to train its models. |
| Sign-in, and the natural teacher voices (the lesson text is sent to be read aloud) when that feature is on. | |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, where offered. |
| Vercel | Hosting for our servers and websites. |
| Neon | Our database. |
| SendGrid (Twilio) | Sending emails. |
| Expo, Apple, Google and your browser's push service | Delivering notifications to your devices. |
| RevenueCat, Apple and Google | Handling subscriptions and in-app purchases. |
| DiceBear | Drawing cartoon avatars (receives only a random seed, not your details). |
These providers may store data in the United States or other countries. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Skilli (in which case this policy would still apply to your data).
What other people can see
- Your lesson content, answers and chats with your teacher are private — not shown to friends, groups or family.
- Friends and study groups can see what your privacy settings allow — for example your skills, streaks and milestones. You can hide any skill.
- Family: a parent in your family can see your progress and streaks (not lesson content) and set daily goals. For homework, a parent also sees what's done, where help was needed, and the answer key. For family members under 18, a parent can also manage privacy settings and decide whether they may make friends outside the family.
- Finding you: by default, other Skilli users can find you by name and see your photo and bio (and, within your settings, a friend in common or a skill you share). You choose who can find you — everyone, friends of friends, or no one — and who can send you requests. Under 18, only your family and study groups can find you or send you requests, unless a parent allows more.
- Your public profile page is off unless you turn it on. Achievement cards are public only when you share their link.
- Posts in the “Everyone” feed are visible to all Skilli users and can be found in search. Discover shows group totals (for example “29 people learning guitar”); you appear there individually only if you turn on “Show me in Discover”.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open, because your teacher needs your history to keep teaching you. When you delete your account in the app, your personal data is deleted right away (a request by email is handled within 30 days). The exceptions are records we must keep by law (such as purchase records, no longer linked to you) and backups, which are overwritten on a rolling schedule.
Your choices and rights
- Change your profile, privacy settings, reminders and notifications at any time in the app.
- Delete your account yourself in the app (Me → Delete account; how). Or ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account by writing to support@skilli.app from the email address you sign in with. We answer within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, Israel or California), you may have further rights, such as objecting to some uses or complaining to your data protection authority. Contact us and we'll help.
Children
Skilli is meant for people 13 and older. Younger children may use Skilli only with a parent or guardian, for example through a Skilli family set up by the parent. If you believe a child under 13 is using Skilli without a parent's permission, contact us and we'll remove the account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, secret keys stay on our servers, uploaded profile photos are re-encoded before they're stored, and access to our systems is limited to people who need it. No service is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away at support@skilli.app if you notice anything wrong.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
